Celebrate Earth Day on April 22…And Everyday

The First Earth Day celebration was held in 1970. This year’s theme is “Green Cities.” Visit earthday.org for more information on Earth Day programs around the country. April is now recognized as a month to focus on environmental awareness.

Locally, we are pleased to announce that a new clothing and textile recycling program will begin on April 14 at the Mundelein Park District Fitness Center, 1401 N. Midlothian road. Drop-off bins will be placed at this location. It is estimated that 85% of all clothing and textiles end up in landfills! The average person is estimated to throw away 70 lbs. of clothing each year.
